let the countdown begin...

Diana Gabaldon wrote on her website yesterday that the official due date for the 7th novel in the Outlander series, An Echo In The Bone, will be released on September 22, 2009!!!
Here is the synopsis:

Jamie Fraser, erstwhile Jacobite and reluctant rebel, knows three things about the American rebellion: The Americans will win, unlikely as that seems in 1777; being on the winning side is no guarantee of survival; and he’d rather die than face his illegitimate son—a young lieutenant in the British army—across the barrel of a gun.

His time-traveling wife, Claire, knows that the Americans will win, but not what the ultimate price may be. That price won’t include Jamie’s life or happiness, though—not if she has anything to say about it.

And in the relative safety of the 20th century, their daughter Brianna and her husband, Roger, watch the unfolding of her parents story in the past—a past that may be sneaking up behind their own family.”
Ooohh...sounds so good, but seriously the wait is going to kill me! Thank goodness Michele from A Reader's Respite and I started the 2009 Outlander Challenge. We are re-reading all of the Outlander novels in anticipation of this release (maybe it's a good thing that we have so much time before then!). We'd love to have more join us - you in?

  1. I am so excited! I have read all of them, and even bought one twice because I though it was a new one - hardback, no less. Galbadon is an exceptional writer. My daughter is currently listening to the first one on tape - AGAIN.

    Whoops - is that me gushing?

  2. I am excited but also a little anxious since I still have a lot of catching up to do with the 'Outlander' series before I get this one. Gee, the time is flying by.

  3. I had really better get going on the Outlander challenge. I haven't even started the first one yet although I did read it years and years ago. At least I have a lot of time to finish them although the challenge itself ends this September doesn't it? I thought so anyway. For some reason I thought the book was being released in 2009. Goes to show how much I know. lol.

  7. Hey Amy, I joined the challenge way back when...but have done nothing yet :-(
    I've read all of Diana Gabaldons but haven't started any of my re-reads in preparation for her new book. I'd better get cracking too!

  8. I enjoyed the early books in the series, but The Fiery Cross did me in. So much so, I never read Snow and Ashes. My mom reminds me constantly how I need to read it before September.

    Enjoy your re-reads girls!
