No synopsis yet for Queen by Right, but it's about Cecily Neville, the Duchess of York.
I really enjoy the first one, and the second one is beautiful, but somehow it reminds me of a book that was or will be made into a movie, which I am a bit against. It looks...too real I think. Still, I love the color of the woman's dress in the second.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I <3 your blog.
I'm sort of disappointed that C.W. Gortner's next book is about the Tudors. I'm sure it will be fabulous, as his books always are, but I've so enjoyed his books about women who get few books written about them. Maybe he has a unique perspective on this as well, I can only hope.
ReplyDeleteAmy - there is a summary of Queen by Right posted on my blog at: http://shelfandstuff.blogspot.com/2010/08/weekly-wishlist-part-2_13.html
ReplyDeleteThe Tudor Secret by Gortner was one of his previous books (published as The Secret Lion). His next book will be on Isabella of Castille (Katherine of Aragon's mother) - that one should be good!
thank you Daphne, I meant to mention again that it was a re-issue. I am SO excited about his book in Isabella - she is such an intriguing woman!
ReplyDeleteJen - I'm actually excited to see what Gortner does with the Tudors. He always brings his own unique point of view to the table.
Sharyla...thanks and yes, the colors of Smith's book are great!
I'm looking forward to QUEEN BY RIGHT - and I think that gorgeous gown is ths same one from the cover of THE QUEEN'S PAWN. It's styled differently, and it's definitely a different picture, but the gown looks the same. I wonder what is the story behind that!
ReplyDeleteLove a good spy story. With Mr. Gortner as the author, there is no doubt this will be an excellent series. Nice cover.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover for QUEEN BY RIGHT. Interesting time period and interesting woman.
