Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

♛ Grab your current read
♛ Open to a random page
♛ Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
♛ Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Welcome!  This week's Teaser Tuesday comes from the ARC of The Countess and the King: A Novel of The Countess of Dorchester and King James II by Susan Holloway Scott that I am currently reading.  I am digging it A LOT so far, the heroine had me endeared by the prologue page and surely that's a good sign!

"All ladies are vulnerable amidst the prowling lions at Court.  Pretty, silly fools will always have their place, but not for long.  The luscious, dewy petals of the rose soon wither and fall away, yet it is the thorns that remain ever sharp."

  1. I waaannnt! Noowwwww.

Yes, I am stamping my feet too!

My teaser is from To Say Nothing of the Dog this week.

  2. That's a very apt description of court intrigue! I hope you enjoy this.

  3. Nice teaser! I don't know much about James II, so I would definitely be interested in this book! You always have the best books!!

  4. Great teaser!! Sounds interesting!

I was trying to grab your button...but nothing happens when I click on it! :)

  5. Wonderful teaser! Sounds like a fun read. Hope you enjoy the rest of it, too!

  6. Good teaser! We could be both dewey petals with hidden razor sharp thorns, if we lived way back when. I look forward to your review :)
