Hey all...got another yummy offer for you!!!
Sourcebooks has just discovered a stack of extra galleys for The Sins of the House of Borgia by Sarah Bower (released on March 8th) and yours truly was quick enough to pick up a copy to give away to one of my fabulous followers! Thanks Sourcebooks! This has been a highly anticipated read for me for 2011 and I can't wait to devour my copy. This giveaway will be short in duration so that Sourcebooks can get the galley to the winner before it's released!
Now, this giveaway will be a little different than my usual as Sourcebooks requested we do something creative. So please include along with your name and email address, the reason why YOU want to read about the Borgias.
SYNOPSIS
Violante isn't supposed to be here, in one of the grandest courts of Renaissance Italy. She isn't supposed to be a lady-in-waiting to the beautiful Lucrezia Borgia. But the same secretive politics that pushed Lucrezia's father to the Vatican have landed Violante deep in a lavish landscape of passion and ambition.
Violante discovers a Lucrezia unknown to those who see only a scheming harlot, and all the whispers about her brother, Cesare Borgia, never revealed the soul of the man who dances close with Violante.
But those who enter the House of Borgia are never quite the same when they leave-if they leave at all. Violante's place in history will test her heart and leave her the guardian of dangerous secrets she must carry to the grave.

I want to read this novel because I love the Borgias -- they are like a modern day soap opera! Plus, I think it would make a good intro into the new television series!

I doubt I have anything original to say -- I've been curious about the Borgias for forever (growing up Catholic, those sordid Popes always stick out!) -- but I also love seeing historical villainesses given their place in the limelight, whether they are redeemed or made even more evil! :)

I'd love to read a historical romance from Italy. Most of what I read is from England or Scotland. Or it's about the Tudors! I'd love to read about another family crisis!

I haven't read anything about this infamous family...in detail...just in general histor books, etc. To me they are like the original mafia...the Catholic Church Mafia so I'm really curious to read the details. Thanks for a fantastic preview giveaway ;) Fondly, Roberta

Love historical fiction - and the house of the Borgia's is a perfect setting
ReplyDeletebingomamanorma(at)gmail(dot)com
Frankly, there really is not that much HF about the Borgias, especially when compared to other time periods or personages, so any HF on them gets my interest. I look forward to reaching beyond the myths of this compelling family and their many layers, to see the multi-dimensional human beings beneath. To learn something new, discover a fresh perspective and come away with a better understanding are reasons I love historical fiction, and with the Borgia family there is just so much to uncover.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be included. I would LOVE to read it as I love historical fiction, plus a few ladies in our book club LOVE this period and typically read a majority of historical fiction. Sadly, I have read a lot of kings and queens and court intrigue/politics, but I have yet to read a historical fiction book based on the Borgias... I'd love to!

ReplyDeleteI love the renaissance period, so much happened during it. I know about the borgias, but I have never read them in a story before. I would love to read the book.

I would love to be able to read about the Borgias as it was such an intriguing time period. I have also been eagerly awaiting the upcoming TV series of the same name. We all need to learn about this time period to have a better appreciation of how events and religion at court played out to shape history.

I've never read anything about the Borgias, but I've heard about them since I started reading HF, with pre-conceived notions of violence, power, evil, hate - all things bad. Would love to really know who and what and why.

I have heard of the Borgias in the past, usually in a negative context. It would be nice to learn more about them in general and from the different perspective this books seems to offer.

I would like to read about the Borgias because I am fourteen years old and am so interested in history and ancient royal families. I love reading about their scandalous stories, their wealth and taking a look at a world and a society that has seemingly vanished.
