Oh, Oh, Oh, I would LOVE to win this. I know the story through Hogarth's paintings and love Motley's "voice" as a writer. The cadences, the "cant" or jargon (he has such an ear for the dialogue of the time) and the atmospheric details are remarkable. For people like me who set their novels in the 18th c., this is a textbook case in perfection!
