ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog and not sure if I'll get around to setting one up again. We're trying to clean out the house we lived in for 20+ years to get ready to move to a totally different part of the country. But I'll still be reading historical fiction.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for a reading challenge in my favorite genre!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a marvelous challenge. I came here from Tina's blog, Reading Between the Pages, and really look forward to participating in 2019! Thank you!

ReplyDeleteso fun to find this challenge once again! happy to add my participation here until I get a post up - I went back thru 2018 historic reads on goodreads challenge and it's currently at 105 so guessing I better signup for PreHistoric [dinosaurs] maybe? Thanks for continuing the challenge...
ReplyDeleteSuper excited for this challenge!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably in the Ancient History category.
ReplyDeleteLove this challenge! Get exposed to so many great reads and blogs I haven't come across before. I tend to lurk when browsing through these but I'm gonna try and comment more, spread more of the HF love. LOL I'm trying for the Medieval-Renaissance levels. My reading habits have slowed down SSSSOOOO much lately, that range is probably a good bet. LOL Thanks again for running the challenge!!!
ReplyDeleteCount me in!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! You are in, like Flynn, my dear! So happy to have you here!
DeleteI just signed up for the challenge! I'm a German blogger and will be reviewing in German on my blog but I'll put English reviews of the books I'll read on Goodreads and link to those every month. Thanks for running this challenge, I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm going for the Ancient History level.
That is VERY cool, Katriona! I am so happy you are joining us :) Happy Reading!
DeleteI'll stick with Medieval again this year!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! Good luck, Davida!
DeleteI'm going to shoot for 10 books! I've never done this challenge, but I think I read 8 or 9 historical fiction books last year, so 10 should be entirely doable—I'll be a Renaissance Reader. I have a few HF ARCs already lined up for the year, so that should help immensely as well!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Kelly! So glad you are joining us this year! I can't wait to see what historicals you read :)
DeleteSigned up + added a link to my blog. I love historical fiction, so this should be fun. Aiming for Renaissance Reader. Hope everyone else has fun!
ReplyDeleteWooo Hoooo! Thank you for being here, Annie-Jo! Can't wait to see what you read this year!
DeleteI signed up for the Medieval challenge. I have yet to write a post about it. But I will definitely join. :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this one. Hope this will increase my reading of Historical Fiction.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to try this challenge! There are so many historical fiction books on my TBR, so I'm going for the Ancient History level.
ReplyDeleteI'm in again this year... just need to be more consistent with my posting of reviews! I think I can make the Medieval level...
ReplyDeleteSweet! So glad to have you here, Alexandra!
DeleteI'm going to enter for the First Time. My blog is devoted to Christian Historical Fiction, and I tend to read a number of novels in that genre each year anyway, so I am entering at Medieval level. 15 books. I am already a third of the way through one historical novel.
ReplyDeleteYay, so happy that you are joining is this year!
DeleteGreat. How to we get the badge? Shall I just copy it from this site?
DeleteI'm entering this challenge for the first time. I have opted for Victorian Reader level. The five titles I plan to read are listed in my post: https://fictionophile.wordpress.com/2019/01/10/2019-historical-fiction-reading-challenge/
ReplyDeleteHope to travel through the ages, but only committing to 20th Century Reader (2) - count me in! Found this post through Fictionophile, just wanted to give a shout out! <3
ReplyDeleteI will aim for the level "Victorian Reader".

Coincidentally, my first read of 2019 was historical fiction - The Revolutionist. Here is the link to its review - https://debjanisthoughts.wordpress.com/2019/01/08/the-revolutionist-by-robert-tucker-bookreview/
ReplyDeleteWhat a great review! I'm actually working with this author on a Blog Tour for the next book in the series. If you'd like to take part, let me know!
DeleteSounds fun! I think I will shoot for the "ancient history" level!
ReplyDeleteYay, Stacy! I'm so glad you are joining us!
DeleteHello Amy, I have posted the review of the second book as part of this challenge. Here is the link - https://debjanisthoughts.wordpress.com/2019/01/21/the-wolf-and-the-watchman-by-niklas-natt-och-dag-bookreview/
ReplyDeleteHi Amy and fellow Historical Fiction lovers. So glad I stumbled on this challenge. It's exciting to share reviews and find new books to add my long list of "want to read". I think I will enter the Medievel challenge. I am into my 14th book read for 2019 as part of the Goodreads challenge and maybe a few of them will count toward the challenge. One question when are the Renaissance and Medievel timeframes?
ReplyDeleteAs far as timeframes, it depends who you ask. Historians would probably tell you that the 'Medieval' period goes from the 5th or 6th century AD, to the 14th or 15th century.
DeleteIn England we tend to count it as AD 410 (when the Romans ceased to rule Britain), to 1485, the date of the Battle of Bosworth, or 1509, the death of Henry Tudor.
Sometimes, historians also subdivide this into the Early Medieval , which is the period up to 1066 or 1099 the High Medieval, about 1100-1350, and Late Medieval.
The word 'early Medieval' is used because some people don't like the term 'Dark Ages' because its sometimes considered derogatory.
'Renaissance' tends to cover the 1500s to the 1600s, although its complicated because the Renaissance is actually considered to have started in the 1300s.
Hey there! I am so glad that you found us & signed up! I look forward to seeing what you read this year!

DeleteHistorical Fiction is my favourite! I have a blog dedicated to my strange review style and most of the books are 20th century, I have linked one. It looks like the 20th century challenge is just 2 books?! Just looking at all the amazing books people are reviewing I am going to have tons!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great blog!
DeleteI am tempted to join the Historical Reading Challenge. I am reading two good Historical novels at this very moment. One is a regular novel. The other one is an Historical Mystery. If I don't, I will try for time to read some of the reviews as recommendations. You have a small crowd here. Hope it is all going well.
ReplyDeleteSounds great, we would love to have you! It's a great group of histfic readers. Quality over quantity, I always say :)
DeleteSince I'm joining in late, I'll try for Victorian Reader this year.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Welcome to the challenge! We're so glad you are here!
DeleteHow Do I join this reading challenge??
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie - you just need to add your blog name and URL to the Mr. Linky box at the bottom of the post!
