Hello, lovely readers of Passages to the Past!  Exciting news to announce!  The next Live Author Chat Night will be held on the evening of August 10th from 7:00 - 8:00pm and will feature Juliet Grey, author of Becoming Marie Antoinette

I could not be more thrilled to have Juliet here to talk about the first book in her Marie Antoinette trilogy, of which I had the recent pleasure of reading and all I can say is...c'est magnifique!

Not only will we have a most excellent discussion with the charming Juliet, but there is also a chance to win an autographed copy of Becoming Marie Antoinette AND a beautiful fleur-de-lis tote bag (wine not included). How adorable is that tote I ask you?!

When: Wednesday, August 10th
What Time:  7:00 - 8:00 pm EST

All corresponding (questions and answers) will take place in the comments section of the Chat Night post (not this one).  I will start off the Chat Night with a welcome message and a question or two to get the ball rolling and then the floor is open to whomever has a question for Juliet.

Here are links to previous chat nights so that you can get an idea of how they work:

This enthralling confection of a novel, the first in a new trilogy, follows the transformation of a coddled Austrian archduchess into the reckless, powerful, beautiful queen Marie Antoinette.

Why must it be me? I wondered. When I am so clearly inadequate to my destiny?

Raised alongside her numerous brothers and sisters by the formidable empress of Austria, ten-year-old Maria Antonia knew that her idyllic existence would one day be sacrificed to her mother’s political ambitions. What she never anticipated was that the day in question would come so soon.

Before she can journey from sunlit picnics with her sisters in Vienna to the glitter, glamour, and gossip of Versailles, Antonia must change everything about herself in order to be accepted as dauphine of France and the wife of the awkward teenage boy who will one day be Louis XVI. Yet nothing can prepare her for the ingenuity and influence it will take to become queen.

Filled with smart history, treacherous rivalries, lavish clothes, and sparkling jewels, Becoming Marie Antoinette will utterly captivate fiction and history lovers alike.

  5. I was looking forward to the chat and now have a meeting that evening. I am so disappointed.
Cute video. Obviously maids were a necessity. There was no way one could dress themselves in those clothes.

  6. Please amend my comment made while half asleep to: ...any book ABOUT Marie Antoinette...

I loved the book trailer! It made me realize just how easy I have it just slipping into shorts and a tee in the morning. Yes!

This and the two books to follow will be a terrific, historical trilogy!
