Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Well, Andie Newton just took my heart and tore it in two! The Girl I Left Behind was such an amazing book and Newton floored me with her excellent writing.

Ella is a young girl living with her Aunt in Nuremberg, Germany after her parents' passing. Her parents didn't agree with Hitler's nationalism but her Aunt makes her join the League of German Girls, a female branch of the Hitler Youth. It's there she meets Claudia and they become close friends. Claudia is part of the local resistance group and Ella sometimes helps out. When the danger gets too close her Aunt sends her to Munich. When she hears that Claudia has been arrested she knows she must find her and help - no matter the danger. She infiltrates and goes undercover at a Nazi administrative office where she has access to all kinds of information, which she uses to help her fellow resisters, and to look for the location of Claudia.

The Girl I Left Behind is an excellent read that I don't think I will ever forget. It had all the feels! Andie puts you right in the action and you can't help but be swept up in their lives. I can't wait for more from this author! She is fabulous!
