My Son's Story by Nadine Gordimer. A class depicting Apartheid South Africa and what can happen when adults sacrifice themselves and their families for a cause...the abandoned child... Gordimer creates such an atmosphere of bereavement.

ReplyDeleteA must-read! Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys! The greatest maritime disaster of all and so few are even aware of it! What an incredibly rendered yet heart-wrenching read!
ReplyDeleteThe Sheen on the Silk by Ann Perry delves into the late 1200's during the end of the Crusades. I did not know anything about this time period so I thoroughly enjoyed learning about it through this story.
