NEW Giveaway: For the King by Catherine Delors

Welcome to the kickoff day for the Historical Fiction Bloggers Round Table event for June, which is featuring For the King by Catherine Delors!

In honor of the event PTTP has 1 copy of For the King for a giveaway to a lucky winner!

SYNOPSIS:  For her first novel, Mistress of the Revolution, which the Associated Press dubbed one of the "best reads of the year," Catherine Delors earned comparisons to Tracy Chevalier and Philippa Gregory. In For the King, she again demonstrates her matchless ability to illuminate key turning points in history while weaving a gripping story about a man caught between his heart and his integrity.
The Reign of Terror has ended, and Napoléon Bonaparte has seized power, but shifting political loyalties still tear apart families and lovers. On Christmas Eve 1800, a bomb explodes along Bonaparte's route, narrowly missing him but striking dozens of bystanders. Chief Inspector Roch Miquel, a young policeman with a bright future and a beautiful mistress, must arrest the assassins before they attack again. Complicating Miquel's investigation are the maneuverings of his superior, the redoubtable Fouché, the indiscretions of his own father, a former Jacobin, and two intriguing women.

Based on real events and characters and rich with historical detail, For the King takes readers through the dark alleys and glittering salons of post-revolutionary Paris and is a timeless epic of love, betrayal, and redemption.

  40. I would LOVE to win this book.

I read Ms Delors previous work, 'Mistress of the Revolution', and I loved it. It really put faces on the French Revolution and the people who survived it and suffered as a result of it.

I have not read a synopsis of 'For the King' yet but I have been waiting for it and I KNOW it will be good! Thank you.

  42. I really enjoyed Delors first book and would love to win a copy of her new book.

As I asked on other Round Table blogs was there originally a different design concept for the cover? I thought I remembered her asking for reader input on her website/blog. The cover choices had a gentleman (later used for a Darcy book) with a smaller image of a contemporary painting/illustration of the actual bombing or a detail of the same bombing painting for the entire cover. I was just curious about the evolution that brought us to the incredible finished cover.
