Arabella Dempsey’s dear friend Jane Austen warned her against teaching. But Miss Climpson’s Select Seminary for Young Ladies seems the perfect place for Arabella to claim her independence while keeping an eye on her younger sisters nearby. Just before Christmas, she accepts a position at the quiet girls’ school in Bath, expecting to face nothing more exciting than conducting the annual Christmas recital. She hardly imagines coming face to face with French aristocrats and international spies. . . .
Reginald “Turnip” Fitzhugh—often mistaken for the elusive spy known as the Pink Carnation—has blundered into danger before. But when he blunders into Miss Arabella Dempsey, it never occurs to him that she might be trouble. When Turnip and Arabella stumble upon a beautifully wrapped Christmas pudding with a cryptic message written in French, “Meet me at Farley Castle,” the unlikely vehicle for intrigue launches the pair on a Yuletide adventure that ranges from the Austens’ modest drawing room to the awe-inspiring estate of the Dukes of Dovedale, where the Dowager Duchess is hosting the most anticipated event of the year: an elaborate twelve-day Christmas celebration. Will they find poinsettias or peril, dancing or danger? Is it possible that the fate of the British Empire rests in Arabella’s and Turnip’s hands, in the form of a festive Christmas pudding?
I really enjoyed reading The Secret History of the Pink Carnation as I'm a huge Scarlett Pimpernel fan. It's funny, thrilling and very entertaining. I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fun and charming series! It's interesting because the books don't fit neatly into one category or genre; it's a bit of historical fiction, romance, mystery, detective, comedy, and literature all wrapped up together. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost finished with the series, and I've readlly enjoyed it too. Interesting to see there will be a book on Turnip, because he always comes across as such a ninconpoop! It should be fun to see how Willig raises him in her reader's estimation and makes him a worthy hero! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI've devoured all the books in this series. I can't wait for the new one; Turnip is such a kick in the head!
ReplyDelete(Hanging my head in shame) -- I have the first two in the series and haven't read them yet! I must correct that.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite series! Finding out a new book is about to tempt me is thrilling!
ReplyDeleteI love this series. So unique and fun. What a pretty cover on the new one. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI like this series a lot, although some of the books are a bit up and down. I will be getting this one as soon as it comes out, but I have to say that the synopsis sounds very silly to me!
ReplyDeleteI have the first book somewhere far under my TBR pile, and this reminds me I have to start the series! I'm excited about reading the books, I heard great things too and the covers are always pretty!
ReplyDeleteI have heard nothing but good things about this series. I have one book on my TBR pile (mountain) and hope to get to it soon. In the meantime, I am on the look out for the rest of the books. They really do sound like my kind of stories.
ReplyDeleteDarn it Miss Willig! I'm still reading Pink Carnation and loving it! Hold up girl and give me a chnace to catch up :) Just kidding obviously.
ReplyDeleteOh Amy, I am totally in love with this cover!!!!!! Love it... the Girl on the cover is sooooooooooo B'ful :)
