2010 Re-Issue: The Mistletoe and Sword by Anya Seton

US & UK Release Date:  June 1, 2010

SYNOPSIS:  Young Quintus Tullius, standard bearer with the Ninth Roman Legion serving in Britain, is ready to begin his quest for the bones of his great-grandfather who died 17 years before—bones that the Druids who haunt Stonehenge watch over. But first he falls in love with Regan, the beautiful and mystifying foster daughter of Boadicea, warrior queen of the Icenians and instigator of the historic, bloody rebellion of the British tribes against Rome. With its suspenseful battle scenes, its mysticism and romance, this absorbing tale makes ancient history excitingly contemporary.

Since this is a re-issue I would love to know if someone out there has read it and can tell us how it was?!  Thanks!

  1. I have a really old copy of this book without the cover, so I'm really excited to get the newer one!

I thought this book was really well written and brings forth a lot of the mysticism surrounding Stonehenge. Although I enjoyed reading it and encourage any fan of Seton's to give it a go, I don't think it really compares well with her other novels, namely 'Katherine', 'Green Darkness' and 'Avalon'.

  5. She wrote an amazing range of historical fiction. I think I should devote a couple of months just to reading her books!

  6. I will be looking forward to this! Love the cover, it seems to change as you look at it, and it keeps drawing you in. I first noticed Stonehenge, then the woman's profile, then the sky which is lovely. Thanks for sharing :)
