I'm so glad you all like it; I'm thrilled, too! Thank you so much, Amy, for posting it. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon when I go on tour for the book's release.
Lezlie - it's odd I guess that I have the opposite of the typical reaction to a headless cover, because it seems they sell because people are turned of by seeing the whole face - I'm turned off by the headlessness and would, if I knew nothing about the books, be more likely to pick up a book without a headless cover - not even neccesarily showing the face but could be something such as a full view from the back, or a landscape... it's just the chopped up nature I dislike, I feel like I'm not seeing the whole picture and it drives me *nuts*!
I really hope marketing trends change someday. I'm finding I like young adult covers more lately because they are not headless as often.
Rebecca ~ You're not alone, that's for sure! A lot of people don't like the trend, but it must have worked well with their focus groups. :-) I like the side/back view idea, too. There is still mystery, but at least the woman has a head!
WOW! It's a beautiful cover. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post.
Wowzers! Can't wait for it. She was....interesting, fascinating. Among other traits.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...this looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI like it!!!! Just love those gowns.....
ReplyDeleteI am one who LOVES to read about her (you know this!)- I'm setting up a look-out point!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress but want the headless cover trend to go away, HATE not seeing the entire face!
ReplyDeleteWoot Woot!! I can't wait for this one, absolutely loved The Last Queen and C W Gortner is such a nice fellow!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I can't wait to get my hands on this! BTW -- Gortner commented on the whole "headless woman" trend on Hist-Fic Chick:
